Rampage Review

   Movie Summary

Based off of the arcade game of the same name comes the film iteration of Rampage.  Basically what this is if you aren't familiar with the game is 3 giant creatures that destroy a city and eat people.  That's about all you need to know going into this.

MPAA Rating/Content

Rampage is rated PG-13 for sequences of violence, action and destruction, brief language, and crude gestures.  The crude gestures refer to a middle finger and a sexual gesture made by the gorilla. The other aspects of violence refer to destruction of buildings, trampling of people, and consumption of a a few people.

 My Rating: 3.5/10

This movie does a good job of getting you interested at the beginning, but misses the mark as the film progresses.  The first half hour wasn't bad at all.  I thought the initial setup was fine, and the relationship between The Rock and George the gorilla was endearing and comical.

I found myself lowering my rating as it continued on.  The first smell of a bad movie was the introduction of the human "villains" of the story.  They were very cartoony, and their motivation for doing things didn't make much sense.  Each time the movie cut away to them it kept bringing everything down.

There are several plot holes riddled throughout this as well.  I caught myself thinking a few times "Wait, why is this happening?" or "How did this person get out of that particular predicament with no explanation?" It just took me out of it too many times.  These were very little things that could have been cleaned up and it would have helped tremendously.

Have you seen it?  What did you think?  Be sure to let me know in the comments and share this review with your friends.  Also if you live in the Magic Valley be sure to see it at Magic Valley Cinema 13!

 Special Announcement!

Starting with Avengers: Infinity War I am going to try out doing an audio version of my reviews.  It will be in video format with clips/pictures of the film being reviewed.  These will also include more in depth discussion since the written reviews are pretty short and to the point.  I would really appreciate feedback on these from you guys!
