A Wrinkle in Time Review

   Movie Summary

Based on the critically acclaimed novel of the same name comes this big budget sci-fi fantasy.  While researching traveling through space and time a beloved father goes missing for 4 years.  After a trio of women known as the "Mrs." reach out to his daughter and adopted son they embark on an adventure to find answers leading to his disappearance.

MPAA Rating/Content

A Wrinkle in Time is rated PG for thematic elements and some peril.  This is safe for practically all ages.  I would maybe just caution those with motion sickness and epilepsy as it takes some colorful twists and turns.

"It was almost like a Disney Channel Original Movie with a big budget and A-List actors."

   My Rating: 2/10

To be honest this was a pretty painful watch.  I was hoping it just had a rocky start, but it continued to drag on and disappoint throughout.  It was almost like a Disney Channel Original Movie with a big budget and A-List actors.  The characters were not engaging and just came off as goofy for the most part.  I did not find myself interested in the story, and it just felt bland.

Some of the dialogue was atrocious.  It was cringe-worthy and comical in a bad way.  It also fails at what was meant to be a message of love, and being happy with who you are.  Either one of these kids in the movie has 2 first names or they just like to say his first and last name all the time.  He is adopted and they keep saying his full name over and over again throughout.  I'm guessing that's how it is in the book, but they never really clarified the reason.  It just came off as annoying, and I kept always thinking of George Michael from "Arrested Development" when they kept saying "Charles Wallace".
