Game Night Review

   Movie Summary

To kick it up a notch Jason Bateman and company decide to go along with a more realistic game night than their usual evenings of trivia and charades.  With the stakes much higher they don't know what is real and what isn't, and must rescue one of their own that has been kidnapped.

MPAA Rating/Content

Game Night is rated R for language, sexual references, and some violence.  As far as R rated comedies go it doesn't overdo it on the language.  There are several F-bombs to be wary of, but nothing too drastic.

I was a little surprised how far they took a particular scene.  I'll just say that if you are a little squeamish when it comes to blood there is a part to watch out for.  There are some sexual references in regards to male infertility as well.

"This is a movie made for watching with your closest friends."

   My Rating: 8/10

*What I Liked

This is the more nerdy/technical side of me speaking, but they had some really cool shots where they made the houses and cars they were in look like game pieces.  These were typically used for coming in close on wide shots, and the transition between game pieces and the real objects were seamless.  Also a very cool tracking shot sequence is used.

There were several good laughs in this.  They keep you guessing throughout on what the outcome is going to be of this game.  This is a movie made for watching with your closest friends.

*What I didn't Like

I thought there were a couple missed opportunities where they could have made certain things much
more comical.  Some scenes felt like they had a lot of good setup, but the payoff didn't always feel fulfilling.
