Movie Summary
This movie may just be the last of the young adult post apocalyptic craze. What started with Hunger Games has seemed to have ended with this film. It is the third and final book adaptation of the Maze Runner series. Thomas and his group of rebels seek to rescue a captured comrade while uncovering even more secrets about the organization known as WCKD.
MPAA Rating/Content
The Death Cure is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence, language, and some thematic elements. There are a few frightening images to be aware of towards the beginning of the film especially for younger viewers. There isn't a lot of it, but it can be a little unsettling.
*What I Liked
This felt like a good closure to this trilogy. I was never super invested in it, but I felt that they answered every question that was raised in the first film. The conclusion is remorseful, yet hopeful. It is an improvement over the second movie, which I was really disappointed by. All of the action is well shot, and for a lower budget sci-fi/action film this does a nice job with visual effects.
*What I didn't Like
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle
There were quite a few of those moments you see in action movies where someone is in peril, and at the last minute someone swoops in to save the day. I can recall at least 3 or 4 moments that lessened the severity of the action. I would have liked to see them go a different way with some of them so it wasn't so predictable. You've got some cheesy dialogue in here too that comes in to play occasionally.
